How do I sign up?

Visit our homepage and click "Sign Up". You can use email/password, Google, or other supported authentication providers.

Is the free trial really free?

Yes! No credit card required. Start using DeeCee.ai immediately with 25 documents, 100MB storage, 100K AI tokens per month, and 10 decisions per month.

What happens when my free trial limits are reached?

  • Documents/Storage: You can't upload more until you delete existing files
  • AI Tokens: Wait until next month (resets automatically on the 1st)
  • Upgrade: Get unlimited resources anytime

How do I upgrade to a paid plan?

Click "Upgrade" in the dashboard to subscribe to Pro for $29/month or $290/year (save 17%).

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. If you upgrade to a paid plan, you can cancel anytime. Your data will be preserved for 90 days.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans.

Using Decision Companion

What file types can I upload?

How does document processing work?

  1. Text Extraction: We extract all text content from your files
  2. Image Analysis: Images are analyzed using AI vision to extract text and describe content
  3. Embedding Generation: Content is converted to searchable vectors
  4. Indexed for Search: Your documents become searchable for decision context

How does document retrieval work during decision generation?

When generating a decision, our AI intelligently retrieves relevant information from your documents:

Stage-Based Retrieval

  • Each framework stage (e.g., "Setting", "Alternatives") searches for relevant content
  • The AI finds the most pertinent sections for that specific stage's focus
  • Different stages may reference different parts of the same document

Tier-Based Limits To balance quality and cost, we apply subscription-based limits:

  • Free: 3 chunks total (max 1 chunk per document)
  • Pro/Beta: 6 chunks total (max 2 chunks per document)
  • Team: 9 chunks total (max 3 chunks per document)

Note: A "chunk" is approximately 800 tokens (600-800 words), representing a coherent section of text.

Smart Selection

  • Documents are ranked by semantic similarity to your decision context
  • The most relevant chunks are selected based on AI similarity scoring
  • Chunks from the same document are combined when helpful

Attached Documents First

  • Documents you explicitly attach to a decision are prioritized
  • These "scoped" documents are searched first, up to tier limits
  • Remaining slots are filled with top-ranked documents from your knowledge base

Example (Pro user with 3 attached documents):

  1. Get up to 2 chunks from each attached document (max 6 total)
  2. If slots remain, add chunks from other relevant documents
  3. Stop at 6 total chunks

This ensures you get the most relevant information while managing AI processing costs.

What are "AI tokens"?

Tokens are units of text that AI models process. Roughly:

  • 1 token ≈ 4 characters
  • 100 tokens ≈ 75 words
  • 100K tokens ≈ 75,000 words

Your free trial includes 100K tokens/month, which is enough for approximately 20-30 comprehensive decisions.

What decision frameworks are supported?

SPADE (5 steps)

  • Setting, People, Alternatives, Decide, Explain
  • Best for complex, strategic decisions

DACI (4 steps)

  • Driver, Approver, Contributors, Informed
  • Best for organizational decisions with clear roles

Helix (3 steps)

  • Context & Stakeholders, Options & Analysis, Recommendation
  • Best for moderate complexity decisions

Can I edit the AI-generated analysis?

Yes! Click the edit icon on any step to modify the content. You can also regenerate subsequent steps to incorporate your edits.

What is "web search" mode?

When enabled, the AI can search the internet for additional context during decision generation. This is useful for decisions requiring current market data, industry best practices, or external information. Note: Web search uses more AI tokens.

How accurate is the AI analysis?

The AI provides well-structured analysis based on proven decision frameworks. However:

  • ✅ Use it as a thinking aid, not the final answer
  • ✅ Review and edit the analysis
  • ✅ Incorporate your judgment and expertise
  • ❌ Don't blindly follow AI recommendations

Privacy & Security

Is my data secure?

Yes. We take security seriously:

  • Encryption in transit: HTTPS/TLS for all connections
  • Encryption at rest: Data encrypted in our database
  • User isolation: Your data is completely separate from other users
  • No sharing: We never share your data with third parties
  • Secure authentication: Powered by Clerk

Who can see my documents and decisions?

Only you. In the free trial, all data is private to your account. No one else (including our team) can access your content unless you explicitly share it or request support.

Do you train AI models on my data?

No. We use third-party AI providers with strict no-training agreements. Your data is not used to train or improve AI models.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can delete individual documents and decisions anytime. To delete your entire account and all data, contact support@deecee.ai.

What data do you collect?

We collect:

  • Account information (email, name)
  • Usage data (token consumption, feature usage)
  • Documents and decisions you create
  • Error logs for troubleshooting

We do NOT collect:

  • Payment card details (handled by our payment processor)
  • Data from your uploaded documents beyond what's needed for processing

Technical Questions

What AI models do you use?

We use state-of-the-art language models for:

  • Decision Analysis: Advanced text generation for decision frameworks
  • Document Search: High-quality embeddings for semantic search
  • Image Analysis: Vision-capable models for document processing

Why do some documents fail to process?

Common reasons:

  • Corrupted file: File is damaged or incomplete
  • Unsupported format: File type not supported
  • Too large: Files over 64MB may fail
  • No text: Image-only PDFs require OCR
  • Password protected: Remove password before uploading

Solution: Click "Reprocess" to try again, or re-upload the file.

How long does document processing take?

  • Small files (<1MB): 10-30 seconds
  • Medium files (1-10MB): 30-90 seconds
  • Large files (10-50MB): 1-3 minutes

Processing includes text extraction, image analysis, and embedding generation.

What are rate limits?

To prevent abuse and ensure fair usage:

  • Decision creation: 20 per hour
  • Complexity assessments: 10 per minute
  • Document reprocessing: 3 per hour per document
  • Search queries: 60 per minute
  • Executive summaries: 5 per hour

These limits reset automatically.

Can I use Decision Companion offline?

No. Decision Companion is a web application that requires an internet connection to access AI models and process documents.

What browsers are supported?

Decision Companion works on all modern browsers:

Troubleshooting

My document upload failed. What should I do?

  1. Check file size: Must be under 64MB
  2. Check file type: Must be PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, or image
  3. Try again: Click the upload button again
  4. Compress: If too large, compress the file
  5. Contact support: If problem persists

Decision generation is stuck. What should I do?

  1. Wait: Generation can take 2-5 minutes for complex decisions
  2. Check progress: The progress indicator shows current step
  3. Refresh: If stuck for >10 minutes, refresh the page
  4. Reset: Click "Reset Analysis" and try again
  5. Contact support: If problem persists

I hit my token limit. When does it reset?

Token limits reset automatically on the 1st of each month at midnight UTC. Your token usage counter will reset to 0.

I accidentally deleted a document/decision. Can I recover it?

No. Deletions are permanent. We recommend exporting important decisions to Markdown before deleting them.

The AI generated incorrect information. What should I do?

AI models can sometimes "hallucinate" or generate inaccurate information:

I'm seeing an error message. What does it mean?

Common error messages:

"Rate limit exceeded"

  • You've hit a usage limit
  • Wait for the specified time period
  • Limits reset automatically

"Document quota exceeded"

  • You've uploaded 25 documents (free trial limit)
  • Delete old documents or upgrade

"Storage limit exceeded"

  • You've used 100MB of storage
  • Delete large files or upgrade

"Token limit exceeded"

  • You've used 100K tokens this month
  • Wait until next month or upgrade

Features & Roadmap

Can I collaborate with my team?

Not in the free trial. Team collaboration features (shared workspaces, commenting, etc.) are available in paid plans.

Can I export my decisions?

Yes! Every decision can be exported to Markdown format. Paid plans also support PDF export with formatting.

Do you have a mobile app?

Not yet. Decision Companion is currently web-only, but it works on mobile browsers. A native mobile app is on our roadmap.
